Terms of Service
Last updated 6 August 2026
These terms apply to everyone who uses Vibe Box: the venue that runs it, the people who administer a venue account, and the patrons who queue songs from their phones. By using Vibe Box you agree to them.
What Vibe Box is
Vibe Box turns a screen in a venue into a crowd-powered video jukebox. Patrons scan a QR code, choose music videos, and queue them. Videos are played through YouTube’s embedded player. Vibe Box does not host, own or licence any music or video.
The pilot
Vibe Box is currently a free, invite-only pilot. Accounts are created by us and given to invited venues; there is no public sign-up, no fee and no minimum term. Because it is a pilot:
- we do not promise any level of uptime, and the service may be interrupted or changed at short notice;
- features may be added, altered or withdrawn;
- we may end a venue’s access, with reasonable notice where we can give it.
If Vibe Box later becomes a paid service, we will set out the pricing and terms before charging anyone.
Venue accounts
As the venue account holder you agree that:
- you will keep your password confidential, and change the password we issue you after your first sign-in;
- you are responsible for everything done through your account;
- the details you give us are accurate, and you are authorised to act for the venue;
- you will tell us promptly at hello@vibebox.media if you think your account has been compromised.
Music licensing is the venue’s responsibility
Playing music in a public venue normally requires licences, and embedding a video player does not remove that obligation. In South Africa this typically involves separate arrangements with SAMRO and SAMPRA, and there may be others depending on how music is used. It is the venue’s responsibility to hold whatever licences its use of music requires. Vibe Box does not provide, arrange or include any public performance licence.
YouTube
Playback uses YouTube’s embedded player, so your use of Vibe Box is also subject to the YouTube Terms of Service. If you add your own YouTube Data API key for search and playlist import, you are responsible for that key, for staying within its quota, and for complying with the Google API terms that apply to it. Do not share a key that belongs to someone else.
Acceptable use
You must not use Vibe Box to:
- display content that is unlawful, hateful, harassing, or sexually explicit;
- target, identify or harass an individual through on-screen messages;
- break into, overload, scrape or interfere with the service or another venue’s data;
- misrepresent Vibe Box as your own product, or resell it during the pilot.
Venues control what appears on their own screen. A venue can pause the queue, skip a song, and remove anything it does not want shown, and it remains responsible for what it chooses to display to its customers.
Patrons
Patrons queue songs without creating an account. Requests are moderated by the venue, may be skipped or removed at any time, and give no entitlement to have a particular song played. Do not send messages to a screen that you would not be happy to have shown to the whole room.
Content and ownership
The venue keeps ownership of the content it uploads, such as sponsor artwork and promotional messages, and confirms it has the right to display it. We keep ownership of the Vibe Box software, name and branding.
No warranty
Vibe Box is provided “as is”. We do not warrant that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that a particular video will remain playable — third-party videos can be removed or blocked from embedding without notice.
Liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, lost profit, or lost business arising from your use of Vibe Box, and we are not liable for a venue’s failure to hold the music licences its use requires. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.
Suspension
We may suspend or end access to protect the service, other venues, or to comply with the law — for example where an account is used in breach of these terms.
Changes and governing law
We may update these terms; the date above shows when they last changed, and continued use after a change means you accept it. These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa.
